WAVENEY & BLYTH ARTS
Finances and future
August 2025
Our current financial position means that if we continue as we are, we will run out of money some time in December this year. After much discussion and quite a lot of heartache, we have decided to make some changes that will enable us to keep going – in a limited form - and are sharing our plans now with members, in time for the AGM on 14 August. We have yet to work out the exact detail but the principle is something like this.
Waveney & Blyth Arts will continue to exist as a charitable organisation at least for the next year. The trustees will meet two or three times a year.
Our major costs are administrative, which means we will have to severely restrict our reliance on the paid services of our valued trustee, Jade Nice
We plan to close down the membership scheme, much of our social media activity and perhaps the regular newsletter.
The website will remain, but will be static, simply giving our details.
Our address lists – of members and of supporters – will be maintained. We will use these to promote a few events over the course of the year to come. We will also promote events through a mixture of social media and physical leaflets/posters.
We will also be able to provide the basis for anyone who is interested (and prepared to put in the admin needed) in using Waveney & Blyth Arts either to seek funding or to help promote events.
A financial statement for 2024-25 and a provisional budget for the next nine months will be available at the AGM. However, the headlines are these: the current balance of our bank account is £2,114.24. Without an admin/marketing officer and with a simplified website, we expect the account balance to be £425 at the end of May 2026.
There are some details still to be settled, including paying back membership fees and timing – so that we use the money we do have wisely and are able to fulfil all our obligations We welcome any thoughts, views, ideas and especially practical help.
The trustees are meeting again in September when we will finalise our next steps, once we have gathered any other views and ideas from members and friends.
